When it comes to any manufacturing activity in the world, we are now observing manufacturing move offshore to countries where labour is a lot cheaper.  The diamond industry is no exception, and today the vast majority of diamond manufacturing and jewellery manufacturing takes place in low wage countries.

Countries accounting for the greatest amount of diamond manufacturing include India, Thailand and China.

Those manufacturers that continue to manufacture diamonds and jewellery in expensive countries focus only on exclusive stones.
